After a cold winter and bad, foggy weather, the sky opens up again in spring and the sun shines. May is getting closer and closer, when we also relax and head to the Croatian island of Krk. It is often known as the Slovenian island, as many Slovenians and foreigners visit it.
Here we have described how easy it is to have fun and at the same time visit one of the most famous Slovenian summer destinations before it gets too crowded with tourists and traffic jams.
On Krk, there is a private plot of land, which is 50 meters from the sea and has convenient access for cars and motorcycles. There is also a natural campsite nearby, where everyone can come with a camper trailer. The campsite is natural and has no drinking water or electricity, so it is considered affordable accommodation with a sea view. We gather there and go on a group ride around the island of Krk every year.
In the morning, over a cup of coffee, we decide where to go and then set off. We drive from village to village. The ride is half road and half gravel. On Krk, the gravel roads are well maintained, and we are respectful of the paths so as not to damage the terrain also used by cyclists. We also come to paths where the ground is not maintained, and there we let loose on more demanding paths and mud. On the way, we also stop at an inn, where we always treat ourselves to lunch and drinks. Full, we set off to find new paths and push through forests and wilderness to reach beautiful beaches and hidden spots. When we reach our goal, we take a break on the beach and refresh ourselves in the sea, even though the water is still cold. Since we have covered quite a few paths, we return to the starting point, and then everyone goes their own way for a bit.
In the evening, we gather again. In the meantime, meat is prepared for the evening barbecue and chilled drinks. A true feeling of nature and relief in harmony with nature and the company of olive trees. Towards evening, a fire and barbecue are lit. This way, everyone can experience a pleasant end to the day by the fire, food, and music. The atmosphere becomes unforgettable, and that's why we do it again.
After a night's sleep, on the second day, we usually all go for a panoramic drive, and the gathering slowly concludes. We return home, or some stay a little longer.
